potential to ruffle a few feathers, so no-one at Bitton Park was counting any chickens prior to kick-off.
The visitors took an early lead through a Matt Anstis penalty, but it didn’t take long for the Teigns to get back into the match with another try from skipper Colin Aldworth as he followed up a decisive break from centre Chris Tidman. Dan Force’s conversion from the touchline gave the home side a lead which they never surrendered.
Although Anstis slotted another penalty shortly afterwards, new boy Chris Jose scored his first try for Teignmouth before Mike Lord managed to reduce the lead to one point with a try for the Services.
With the last play of the first half top scorer Will Sowden chased his own kick to continue his excellent record of scoring more than a try a game this season.
Leading 17-11 at the break, the Teigns seemed to take their foot off the gas a little in the second half, which was a scrappy affair with few scoring chances. Winger Chris Sherlock scored in the corner to wrap up the bonus point, and Force added a late penalty, but perhaps the home side had their minds on next week’s huge clash at leaders Ivybridge. Teignmouth now lie in third place, just four points behind the Ivys, so it should be a titanic clash in West Devon.
