The sun was shining on Bitton Park and Cullompton bought with them a lot of spectators for the game that would decide who stays in the league and who goes down. Teignmouth were 13 points ahead of Cullompton in the league, however when they met in the league games, they won a game each. The hard ground and dust on the pitch made conditions difficult for all. Cullompton took an early lead when they gained a penalty and kicked for posts, 0-3.

Teigns had the first lineout but lost it, and Cullompton kicked. Jack Bowen made a break and gained an advantage. Teigns were pushing up and great handling was displayed by Jamie Gray. The ball went to Pete Bilham, who passed to Jason Jervis who scored the first try of the game, 5-3.

Teigns found themselves defending their try line. Teigns won a lineout in 22 and kicked. Cullompton possession and Teigns gave away a penalty giving Cullompton another chance at posts, 5-6.

Jack Mayne had possession and tried a kick over the player in front of him. This then bounced over another player and was caught by Jack himself who put down a try in front of the crowd in home corner, converted by Luke Atkinson, 12-6.

Teigns had 2 consecutive scrums that they won, the 2nd of which was in the 22 so they kicked, Teigns were still defending their try line and Cullompton managed to get a try over the line taking the score to 12-13 with a converted try.

Cullompton looked like they were going to score again but a tackle put in by Jordan Hellier prevented this, Cullompton passed the ball and knocked on. The ball possession went between teams and when Cullompton found themselves at their try line and kicked, the possession was back with Teigns who passed out to Matt Dowrick who had found himself on the wing and scored, converted by Jack Mayne, 19-13.

There was still time for a few more points before half time when Teigns gained a penalty and took the chance at posts, kicked by Jack Mayne, 22-13, half time.

As the 2nd half started passion was high and Cullompton gained and advantage and Teigns had a yellow card taking them to 14 men for 10 minutes. Teigns were again defending their try line and held well but eventually Cullompton broke through with a converted try, 22-20.

Cullompton were heading for the try line knowing this could take them into the lead. Jordan Hellier again tackled and the player went into touch gaining Teigns a lineout in the 22, close to their try line. Teigns won and Alex Ford made good ground, passed to Jason Jervis, then Jordan Hellier who kicked, caught by Luke Atkinson who scored, converted by Jack Mayne, 29-20.

Cullompton had not given up and came back with a converted try and then when Teigns received their 2nd yellow card of the match they gained another converted try taking the lead, 29-34.

Time was running out at Bitton Park, Cullompton had a penalty and went for posts but missed. Teigns had possession but were struggling to get past the halfway line. Teigns had a lineout, won and the ball went out to the wing. Cullompton had possession with minutes to go but knocked on. Teigns scrum won and possession was pushed up into the 22. Jack Bond scored a try to take the score to 34-34 with a kick to go. Pressure was on for Jack Mayne who successfully converted giving Teigns the lead at 36-34. However, there was still time on the clock so the game restarted. The ball was caught by Teigns, who were able to kick it straight out to take the win.

Player of the Match was awarded to the entire team for their teamwork and determination.
