Teignmouth arrived with 19 players compared with the 13 that Paignton had managed to muster, so were asked to loan a couple of players to the hosts. Noah Lambert, who scored twice against Plymstock the previous week, and a returning Sonny Moore, started for Paignton with the brief to cause the Teignmouth defence some problems.
Unfortunately for Paignton, Teignmouth were so dominant from the start that Noah and Sonny saw little of the ball as Seth Boxall and Samuel Rose crossed for early tries. Connor Moore, moved from prop to wing for this game, joined the party with two tries of his own.
Noah and Sonny rejoined the Teignmouth team at half time, replaced in Paignton colours by Sam Harrion and Greg Clarke. Ryan Harvey also swapped sides as Paignton had lost a player to injury.
Ryan soon evened up the contest at the scrummage, and as Paignton won some more ball Sam Harrion was able to ask some questions of his squad-mates with some strong runs. The Teignmouth defence held firm, though, and were able to add a couple more scores, including one by James "I haven't scored a try since tag" Waggett.
The fixture was an enjoyable lesson in the fact that even against less experienced opposition, it takes good organisation and precise execution of basic skills to cross the try line.
