On a beautiful muddy but sunny morning at Queen’s Park, Teignmouth under 14’s showed what they could do when they work hard and take control of the ball. They played some outstanding rugby against a spirited Paignton side who never gave up and gave the young Teign’s some issues at ruck time.

Everyone made big contributions to the game but there are a few special mentions, namely to Jack Parr who has been outstanding the last few months and become a real driving force in the front five. Also a mention to Tristan Green who has played very well over the last few weeks. It is not easy going from one position to another and he has adapted well to them all. Ben Steel Flood has been a great addition to our talented squad and had a big influence in the game, making big bulldozing runs only to be brought down short of the line. I am sure he will be on the score sheet before long. Charlie Doolan has also had a great start to the year, coming back from his broken thumb he has played outstandingly over the last two games and we look forward to seeing more of him with ball in hand.

The pack worked tirelessly today and the game will always be won by the team that controls the ball and earns the right to play. Going forward this will be the main focus (ball control). Lessons will be learnt along the way but we have a lot to play for in the spring so putting the continued effort in now will hold you all in good stead.

My last special mention is to Louix Bustin who has had to watch from the side lines over the last 7 weeks and support the team. He was signing autographs for the general public yesterday and we look forward to having you back playing in the next few weeks.
