Another hard fought win on the road

Exeter Chiefs U14s 7 -- Teignmouth U14s 46

Teignmouth Under 14’s went on the road to Exeter Chiefs this week. With the home team having strengthened their squad this season with some very big and athletic forwards. This would give the Teign’s pack a strong test and overall they fronted up to them, even though many decisions did not going their way.

Even under pressure the forwards knew that keeping possession would be vital to winning this game and worked hard to get the ball to the backs. Once the young Teign’s backline received the ball they looked dangerous, creating many line breaks led by Oliver Nicks, who got his back line moving onto the ball at pace. All of the backs, Charlie Doollan, James Rowe, Ben Scullard, Tristan Green, Luke Cockram, Louix Bustin looked lively with ball in hand.

0-12 at half-time with the young Teign’s only two tries up with one being converted.

The second half started with the Teign’s showing a better attitude and understanding of the game as they began moving the ball away from the big Exeter pack. This was to prove decisive as they went on to score a further 6 tries, 2 of which were converted by scrum half Finn Addiscott, who had a fine second half and took charge of his forwards with plenty of vocal direction.

The Teign’s back row of Jake Howard, Luca Barbot and Daniel Noble were everywhere and scavenged ball all over the pitch and there is also a special mention for talented prop Aiden Norbury for showing us how lethal he can be when clearing out rucks.

Indeed the whole of the front five forwards of Tom Bennett, Logan Woolley, Oscar Kennedy, Thomas Walters, Teddy Harbert and Jack Parr worked really hard and won plenty of ball to unleash our three quarter line!
