Teignmouth II's this result has to be a bit special.

An unsettled week ended with a strong side out despite some regulars missing. The late cry off of recently returned powerhouse 2nd row Gareth Aldworth was balanced by another returnee Matt Hallett to the second row for his first game back for 4 years and he performed as if he had not been away.

A powerful looking Brixham set of forwards held no fears for a well drilled and tight Teignmouth 8 and their structured organised approach to all aspects of the forward game meant it was only in the mauls that Brixham really held their own against what was a much lighter pack.

Teignmouth as requested started hard and fast and soon a barging run from centre Roy Jones opened up Brixham and as the ball was recycled Couch spun the ball wide quickly and Jake Collins pinned his ears back and crossed wide out. Couch's conversion gave the perfect start. Despite pre match discussions some missed tackles let Brixham back in straight away at 7-5.

In reply the Teignmouth forwards started to really dominate and recycled and recycled before Walker from scrum half made the final break and crossed for Couch to make it 14-5. Again errors contributed as Brixham hit back to take it to 14-10. At this point 2 injuries to James Manning (a boot injury to the eye) and Sam Banks tackling a post(well it had Brixham colours on it!!) left Teignmouth with their last 15 players on the pitch and having to reshuffle.

The last 15 however did not get phased and produced a committed and skilful performance. In the crucial spell pre half time the forwards produced a catch and drive that their first team colleagues would have been pleased with as skipper Webber touched down. So that at the break Teignmouth led 19-10. As Brixham rang the changes after half time they pulled back an early try and conversion to move to 19-17 down. But again Teignmouth dug deep and with some big tackles going in and always being positive going forward they repelled Brixham and then took the game back into the opposition half. After another sequence of recycling and pressure Jake Bury back from injury and hols(what a sun tan!!) crashed over wide out to make it 24-17 going into the last quarter.

A couple of chances to tie it up went begging and the game ended with Brixham throwing everything at the line but with Teignmouth defenders making one big hit after another to hold them out.

Above all a great all round team performance but Andy Webber and Dan Aldworth were immense up front both in defence and attack. The other six forwards were not far behind however and Steffen Walker at scrum half gave a commanding performance. In the back's Jake Bury and Roy Jones stood out but again the rest gave strong performances. A tackle late in the game by Jim Lewis to prevent a break out try by Brixham stood out.

With a tough game due next week against Kingsbridge with this sort of performance Teignmouth need worry about no one.
