Teignmouth RFC may have 2 sides clinching promotion this season with the Teignmouth RFC 2nd team lying 3rd in their respective division. Two wins in the space of 3 days, including a win against a very big and powerful Honiton side last Wednesday set them up nicely for an 18 try demolition of Cullompton at Bitton Park on the day that saw the 1st team gain promotion 16 miles down the road at Wessex.
Earlier in the season in the away it was a very different affair with the Teigns just managing to edge out Cullompton in the last 5 minutes.
Second team manager Chris Thomas said, "We were expecting a much stiffer test than we had but you can only play what is in front of you and the lads showed the massive steps forward they have made this season with a very clinical display of 15 man rugby. There were some excellent performances on the park today and it would be hard to single out a man of the match display when everyone from 1-22 played good rugby. We have a hard away game this week against Brixham who we lost to at home earlier this year, but we are a more complete side now and it will be interesting to see how far we have come."
