Kingsbridge 2nd XV 45 Teignmouth 2nd XV 14

Teignmouth took a trip to top of the table Kingsbridge with four back rowers missing due to holiday, work and university commitments, and found the going tough against a very strong, well organised and disciplined team. The home side showed exactly why they are favourites for the league title and why they remain unbeaten so far.

It wasn't all doom and gloom for the Bitton Park outfit; with the forwards again showed they are a match for anyone in this league, scoring 2 tries from 20 metres out from a driving line-outs, with the outstanding veteran David Northcott, flopping over the line both times.

Injuries in key positions took the structure out if the side but the Teigns stuck at it with promising displays from Callum Couch, Darren Cockram and Mitch Thomas and Roy Jones being as solid as ever. They eventually succumbed to a 45-14 loss but for a side in the early stages of development, their pre-season target of a top five finish in this league is still fully achievable.

This Saturday, the 2nd XV will be warming up the Bitton Park faithful with a 1pm kick off, prior to the 1st XV’s match against Withycombe.
