Teignmouth got off to the worst possible start against Brixham, losing centre Will Moore to a leg injury in the warm up before kick off and with a few players being called up to the first team and players being away on holiday, this put more pressure on what was an already depleted squad.
Brixham took an early lead with a well worked try and then matters went from bad to worse for the Teigns with wing Phil Hann having to be replaced 30 minutes into the game and forwards then having to infill in back positions.
The Teign forwards were more than a match for their bigger Brixham side and had many a 20 metre rolling maul but there wasn't that cutting edge behind and they were not able to turn pressure into points. More injuries in the backline saw young Brad Carpenter, a promising young hooker having to go on the wing, however, it was nip and tuck for most of the game and with 15 minutes to go, it was still only 7 nil to the visitors. Another barnstorming maul by the Teign forwards was illegally brought down which should have resulted in a penalty try but only a penalty was given and the Teigns then lost some composure, which resulted in Brixham scoring two late tries and closing out a very hard fought victory.
