The Teigns got onto the score board early with a try by Luke Pattison after some good work backing up following a break by Chris Tidman, with Will Luscombe adding the conversion. Shortly after the Teigns scored a second unconverted try after strong forward play with breaks by George Mowson & Colin Aldworth with skipper Aldworth scoring after the ball was recycled and moved back to the blindside.
Newquay replied shortly thereafter with an unconverted try wide out to the right by Mark Robins.
However the Teigns forwards then reasserted their dominance and Luke Pattison picked up his second try touching down at the back of a superb driving maul following a line out, from Newquay’s 22 metre line. With a missed conversion this took the score to 17-5.
A Newquay penalty kicked by Liam Freeman took the score to 17-8 in the Teigns favour at half-time.
It was more of the same in the second half and following a superb break down the left hand side Chris Sherlock added a further unconverted try to make the score 22-8. As Newquay tired the Teigns scored three further converted tries by Paul Scott, Chris Tidman and Will Luscombe, all of which were converted by Luscombe to move the score onto 43-8.
Late in the game Newquay scored a consolation try by Andy Thomas that was gain converted by Liam Freeman.
This Saturday the Teigns are at home against OPM’s from Plymouth, kick-off 3.00pm, when they will be hoping to maintain their impressive start to the Season.
