challenge of making the play offs via a rearranged game against Penryn (and well done to them) the 2nds had their own challenge to meet which they did just!Basically the 2nd team squad with whoever else would join them faced three games in three days with one being a normal first team fixture. All were lost but the efforts of the players deserved much better pay back.

In the first OMT game two guests Jo Hooker and Willie Second row helped out whilst 5 of this years Colts also played. A fine hard working effort kept the game tight and it was only a burst of scoring while OMT's warmed up some of their 1st teamers that they pulled clear. All the Colts performed admirably notably the more experienced(2 games each) Dom Twine and Sam Carr. Dom scored his first Easter try and Sam Carr tackled and worked all day. Two tries came from Jo Hooker who was a stand out player and the other more notably from prop Simon Pearce who crashed over from close in.

Roy Jones played about three positions in the game and the three Vets Nigel Speight, John Goodman(aided by son Max) and the effervescent Rob Cheeseman all put in hard days at the coal face.

The second game proved the toughest as was to be expected. Playing after the firsts league game against OMT's 1st XV was always a big ask and so it proved in terms of the score. However performance wise it was very positive.

Dan Force and Jake Allison helped out after taking part in the 1st XV game and this was appreciated. Dan particularly played the whole game and was influential throughout. The score line at one point was nil to 40 odd but throughout the Teignmouth side worked hard and never backed off. Some missed first up tackles cost them dear however as the OMT runners built momentum.

In the second half Teignmouth took the game to OMT's they were carrying the ball with real purpose now and the OMT defence started to waiver. Two Colts again putting in great efforts and growing in confidence and stature Jago Chapman and Ollie Bond trashed an OMT catcher from a kick off and after some midfield recycling the ball was worked out wide but only for the winger to get pulled down just short. It was a moment of change however and an omen of things to come. Terry Veacock nursing a knee injury had just arrived on field as a handling move gave him the overlap and he burst free to score what looked to be a consolation try for Teignmouth. Inspired by Dan Force, Roy Jones and Sam Banks the Teignmouth side tore into OMT's every bit of ball was run back and suddenly the OMT's looked ragged and were struggling to cope. First Aiden Ovens broke clear from his own half and sprinted away into the corner then winger Dom Twine did the same riding tackles and scoring the third try. More was to come as despite changes OMT's could not stem the tide first a handling move from their own 22 by Sam Banks and Roy Jones aided by others ended with Roy Jones getting a well deserved try under the posts. Whilst Colin Aldworth scores tries for the first team, brother Gareth showed new skills and kept his cool to slot the conversion. Then finally after Twine burst away again only to be pulled down just short of the line Dan Force jinked his way through for the final score.

It was great to have the Colts playing and showing so much promise this has been a good year for the 2nds with some great results and the future looks brighter as these youngsters come through.
