Teignmouth outpass the Chiefs

Teignmouth made an energetic start to this tough encounter and were in confident mood following a good run of results this season. Daniel Noble captained and led the side well with some ferocious tackling to stifle any progress the Chiefs were hoping to make in the early stages.
Early tries were shared for both sides, with Jude Baker-Hands scoring for the home side after good inter-play from Luca Barbot and Tristan Green. Teignmouth gradually began to gain a stronger foothold in the game after the opening exchanges, attacking with pace through and defending resolutely through Oscar Kennedy and Thomas Walters. A flurry of tries followed from Oliver Nicks (2), Jude Baker-Hands, Finn Addiscott and Daniel Noble. Although the Chiefs pulled back a couple of tries late on, further tries from Jude Baker-Hands and Oliver Nicks and Luca Barbot led to a convincing 45-15 lead at half time.

Team work was the name of the game after the break with Luke Cockram, Jack Parr (Man of the match) and Luca Barbot linking up well to pass their way through to the Chiefs try line. Jude Baker-Hands followed up with two further tries, one involving a superb jinking run along the left wing cutting through the Chiefs defence. Strong running and pressure from Jack Parr and a quick pass to Luca Barbot led to a further score. Exeter pulled pack four tries in the late stages as the Teignmouth defence tired, however Josh Couch ran in two good late tries to earn Teignmouth a well deserved 75-35 victory.

The second game proved to be a much more competitive encounter as the Chiefs came back stronger and quicker. The Chiefs led by 10-15 at half time with two tries from Luca Barbot for the home side keeping them within reach of the Exeter side.

After the break Teignmouth had to work hard to pull themselves back in front with Jude Baker-Hands stealing the ball to make it 15-15 and Jack Parr capitalising on another Chiefs mistake to play in Josh Couch to make it 20-15. It was then end to end attacking rugby with a try for one side being cancelled out by the other side until the score reached 40-40 in the final minute of this thrilling match. In the end Teignmouth wanted victory more and Jude Baker-Hands won it in the final action of the game to end it 45-40.
