Teignmouth 45 - Crediton 5

The U9’s maintained their confident start to the season with a convincing 45 - 5 home victory over a tall Crediton team on a crisp autumnal morning.
The Try count started for the Teigns in the third minute following some strong tackling by Josh Couch and good inter passing that led to a try for Jude Baker-Hands.
Oliver Nicks followed up soon after with a second. Further tries from Luke Cockram and Josh Couch secured a 20 – 0 lead at the first break.
Crediton found it hard to get any sort of foothold in the game and any Crediton possession was very quickly snuffed out by an impressive defensive display by the Teignmouth U9’s. Strong tackling by Luca Barbot, Daniel Noble and Tristan Green prevented tries in the second phase of play.
Good running at the Crediton defence by Jack Parr eventually led to the fifth try and although Creditons efforts paid off late in the second phase when they pulled one try back, the come-back was short lived with a timely interception by Jude Baker-Hands leading to try number 6.
Both teams began to tire in the third phase although Creditons mistakes were again capitalised on when Jack Parr’s interception eventually resulted in Jude Baker-Hands’ fourth try of the day. He added a fifth after good running down the wing by Luke Cockram and passing by Josh Couch.
The game was fittingly finished by a fine team try involving Oscar Kennedy, Bertie Hall (man of the match) and Thomas Walters on 27 minutes finished well by Oliver Nicks.
