TRFC Under 10’s Vs Paignton Under 10’s

After our visit to Paignton for the first game of the season when the hosts showed excellent rucking skills, we hoped today would show how far out team has come with mastering those skills. We weren’t disappointed!
Two teams of eight boys played alternate ten minute halves up at the Broadmeadow pitch and with parents from both teams there encouraging all the boys some amazing team work, tackling and tries were their responses.
Paignton strung together some excellent passes making good use of their speedy runners with the strength and power coming from a couple of taller children battling through the middle of the Teignmouth defence. However the Teigns were not discouraged by a couple of early Paignton tries and came back resilient with lovely passages of play between several of the boys and some much improved rucking meaning more possession of the ball than during the first match. Tries came for the Teigns in the form of James Hill, Fletcher Wickham, Theo Oswald and Alex Thornalley with excellent support play from many of the others.
Finally they had a ten minute play with ten a side showing an insight into how they may progress as we go through the years.
After a chin wag between our 5 coaches/ helpers (Ben, Jim, Matt, Lee and Jonathan) Player of the week went to Nathaniel Mazer having been described as always showing rugby spirit and making sure he was available and ready to receive the ball.
